White Dress Roundup

Wednesday, June 12, 2013

One of my favorite things about getting married was having an excuse to buy a million white dresses...and by a million I literally mean that I will never be allowed to buy another white dress for the rest of my life.

The good news is that summer has finally arrived in NYC and I have an army of lovely white dresses just waiting to be worn!

See below for a collection of my favorite short white dresses out there - I own 2, 4 and 5 and LOVE them but sooooort of thinking that I might need to add 1 and 3. You can never own enough white dresses, right??

1,   2 (on sale!),  3,   45 (on ABSURD sale)

Friday Fantasy

Friday, June 7, 2013

Sorry for the unscheduled absence folks, I somehow managed to get attacked my the most violent head pains I have ever experienced in my life. Quite scary (and scarier that the doctor doesn't seem to know why they happened). But I'm feeling much better and ready to tackle some pretty pictures.

Since it's gross and rainy here in NYC I figured taking a look at a beautiful sunshine filled home overlooking the Sea of Cortez in San José del Cabo, Mexico. Designed by Marshall Watson Interiors, the villa is truly a dream home.

I'm always a sucker for a good alfresco living room and this one happens to have a wonderful balance between the formality of an indoor living space and the casual atmosphere of being outside. I mean with weather and a view like this, who would want to entertain inside??

Enjoy Folks, and have a wonderful weekend...

Ok, I'm not so sure that this makes the most comfortable dining area (my tush generally prefers a little cushion...) but wood in combination with blue seas and Tuscan stone columns does make quite a beautiful pairing.

How chic is that hood? I would have expected something more rustic but I'm really loving it..

Le sigh, that Oly chandelier always makes me swoon

Serena & Lily aka Cabana Stripe City

Tuesday, June 4, 2013

Well, if you haven't heard by now...everyone's favorite home catalogue opened their first brick & mortar store in the Hamptons (clearly qualifying it for discussion during Hamptons Week).

Quite a few images of the store have been floating around the blogosphere so I will spare you the reiteration...but what I really want to discuss is their kick ass usage of black and white cabana stripe...

On lots of chairs!!!

Clearly the black and white cabana stripe is killing it over at Serena and Lily. Personally, I have always been a fan and we actually included a black & white cabana stripe beach towel inside the black & white beach bag for the welcome bags at our wedding.

Here are some other cabana stripe images that I just adore...what are your thoughts? Too kitchy? Too trendy? Or fabulous??

Happy Monday!

Monday, June 3, 2013

I hope everyone had an amazing weekend!!

After dinner and drinks with my gals on Friday night the hubs and I headed out to the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic on Liberty State Park. After a lovely little ferry ride we landed and proceeded to get our Veuve on.

I'm pretty sure some polo was played but I was mainly concerned with either drinking obscene amounts of champagne or taking pictures...

Seriously how cute is hubs (right) and my bestie Dave (left)?

Anyway, after seeing a plethora of adorable white dresses, and remembering how much I love a fresh white ensemble I'm complining a list of my favorite white summer dresses for later in the week - so check back for that!

In the meantime, keeping up with our Hamptons Week theme I wanted to share some images from Aerin Lauder's new store in Southampton, Aerin. I checked it out last weekend and I just loved how light and fresh everything felt. The store itself is a very small space but they really curated it quite nicely...

How cute are these topiaries? I also loved the open white étagère against white walls to give the space a more open feeling.

Here are a few of my favorite items that I loved from the store...

Crystal Carafe $260

Crystal Glasses $280

Ram's Murex Shell $340

Grey Agate Trivet $220

Green Agate Coasters $195

To be honest, as cute as everything is...having my glassware plated in 24k gold plate isn't exactly a necessity in my life right now but I'm wondering if you can't DIY something similar (same goes with the gold conch shell...).

I read this tutorial on DIY glassware from Nicole Cohen's Sketch42 Blog and I'm wondering if the same can't be done in gold...stay tuned folks!

Homenature

Friday, May 31, 2013

On to Day 3 of Hamptons Week I introduce you to Homenature...

Located in both Southampton and Amagansett, Homenature is a combination of both proprietary designs, productions and vintage finds - it's really the ultimate destination for that perfectly tailored beachy look so fitting for the Hamptons.

I really enjoyed their outdoor furniture...that giant U-shaped couch would be perfect for lounging around on a beautiful summer day! And the outdoor lanterns were a nice combo of chic and rustic...the hubs is still pissed at me that I didn't bring one home...

 The
They also stock Alexandra Von Fursternberg's (DVF's daughter in law..apparently responsible for relaunching the DVF brand recently) new lucite collection...which is seriously cool. The treys really glow like they are lit from within...although at around $300 a pop, not sure if a fancy trey is REALLY what I'm going to be splurging on this summer...

These petrified wood side tables were awesome...

And they stocked a TON of various corals set on lucite...way awesome.
I'm really not sure why I don't own an agate cheese platter. Where have I been on that??! So so chic..

And my favorite, my love, my birthday wish...HOW FABULOUS IS THIS BENCH!?!
NEED NOW!

I wish I was this cool...

Continuing with the theme of Hamptons Week I would like to introduce you to
MONC XIII, a store that I literally stubled in to escape the blustering "summer" winds and, my word, were we lucky...

Opened by Natasha Esch and her husband MONC XIII seeks to showcase  "elegant, personally curated, antique and vintage furniture and accents for the home...to inspire our customers with a beautiful environment and most importantly unique, spectacular, hand-picked selections from 18th Century to Mid Century."

And let me tell you, it's totally fabulous...check out these images from their site:

Those round backed chairs?? ARGG!!

Why do I not own this? Oh, because I can't afford it...but still...why don't I own it??

Aide from the fabulousness of those towels in wire baskets, can we discuss those subway tiles and grout combo??!

 Leather beer cooler? Clearly.

These Cleo Baldwin chairs are just the coolest. They're like that cool kid that you always wanted to be in high school (slash still do...)

a chartruse leather chesterfield!!

Clearly I'm obsessed, I hope you enjoyed a peek into MONC XIII as much as I did. Check out their site for eons more fabulousness!
